Markings:
signed Lempicka. (lower left)
Condition:
The canvas is unlined. There are numerous small areas of loss to the upper paint layer, including some areas of lifting paint. There are some areas of light abrasion to the paint surface. A thin vertical scratch is visible to the upper right quadrant and a further two faint vertical scratches are visible to the woman's torso. There is a number of planar distortions, most noticeably in the lower left quadrant, as well as on the right of the lower framing edge and in the top right corner. The surface is dirty and there are numerous fly specks and accretions, most notably in the lower right quadrant. The painting is unvarnished. Inspection under UV light reveals no obvious signs of retouching, however, there are areas that fluoresce darkly under UV light that seem to correspond to the aforementioned areas of loss and abrasion. Framed: 68? by 48½ in. (174.2 by 123.1 cm.)
